2009 LEAGUE FINAL REPORT
The 2nd occasion of the League semi-finals/final at Bounds Green B.C. on Sat.19th Sept. was once again blessed with a warm sunny day, so enabling everyone to fully enjoy the fine facilities and hospitality. Along with seeing some extremely good bowling (which was certainly evident in the two pairs competitions) it provided a real treat for all spectators. With the morning semi-finals seeing the appearance for the 1st time of Eastcote B.C. they sadly found the strength of Bounds Green rather too much too overcome and eventually lost on all rinks. While the other semi between Broomfield and West Ealing showed a narrow difference (4 shots) at 11 ends it was the latter who held on to eventually win also on all rinks. Final scores being:-
After an enjoyable luncheon buffet we then saw the host club settle down much quicker in the early stages of the Final to obtain a 15 shot lead by the 5th end. With this being extended to 29 by the 11th end it proved rather too much of a gap for West Ealing to make up and subsequently lost as follows :-
Congratulations go out to Bounds Green who received £200 as champions and £100 was presented to the runners up.
Both the Mixed and Whisky pairs competitions kept everyone glued to their seats to the end with a fine display by all competitors. The Whisky pairs being decided on an extra end and the Mixed being resolved on the 21st end.
The eventual results being :-
Whisky Pairs P. Cook/I. McConachie (Poplar) 21 P. Cater/R. Barrett (West Ealing) 20
