A good start to this seasons campaign in the under 25’s Home Counties League with a win for the lads against their Buckinghamshire CBA under 25’s counter parts, played at Iver Heath BC in good playing conditions but on what proved to be a very tricky green, winning 100 shots to 49, and winning on all 4 rinks earning the team all 14 points.

The top winning rink was, A Pearce & S Vickers (both Poplar), P Wilsher (West Ealing) and D Harris (Uxbridge), who were always in the lead winning 38 shots to 10 and picking up a 6, 5 and three 4s in the process.

Middlesex also had another high winning rink, J Gibbs (Unbeaten in 13 games) continued to skip his rink of A Tanner (Ashford), C Fortune (Poplar) and C Hill (Normand Park) to a convincing win by 30 shots to 10, a margin of 20 shots, this was better than we expected especially as the score after 10 ends was 8 all.

Most of the excitement was taking place on the other 2 rinks, L Barber (Broomfield), J Head (West Ealing), C Law (Pymmes Park) and R Southgate (Harrow) held on to win 16 shots to 15, they were always in the lead and went into the last end 3 shots up which they defended very well with some very good strategic woods.

The aim of the day was to try and win on all 4 rinks so the last rink to finish A Richardson (Broomfield) N Edwards (Pymmes Park), G Peisley (Cambridge Park), and G Adams (Century) became the main focus, this rink was always close, with never more than one shot in the game. Going into the last end at 14 all and with all the Middlesex players and spectators at the end of the rink Adam played his last wood and drew shot to the loudest cheer of the day, not over yet, the Buckinghamshire skip had last wood, he touched the jack but to the relief of Middlesex flipped the jack to 2 Middlesex bowls, Middlesex won 16 shots to 14. A JOB DONE.  JUST !!!!.

The lads are playing in the Regional Finals of the Double fours at Chesham BC on the 15th June. They play Berkshire CBA in the morning. If successful they will play either Kent or Surrey in the afternoon.

If you are free that day please come along and give support our youngsters, we know the other counties will be there in force so ALL YOUR SUPPORT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
