Tuesday 6th May saw the new County President Tony Paulley lead an Inter County Friendly Squad into their first game of the 2008 season. Pleasant weather greeted the players of both Middlesex and Warwickshire CBA's as they gathered in front of the newly extended clubhouse at Holtwhites BC.

A competitive game followed with Middlesex triumphant on 4 of the 6 rinks to return a 119-101 victory. Leading by example top rink was Tony Paulley (President / Harrow), Eric Pelling (County Coach / Pymmes Park), Dave Parrott (Rosedale Park) skipped by Paul Cater (West Ealing) who won 27-13.

Two days later under an unseasonably warm sun the players travelled along the A40 to gather at High Wycombe and a game against Buckinghamshire CBA. A victory on 2 rinks, with a third drawing, was not enough to stop the County falling to a 103-131 defeat.

Top rink was Michael Nelson (Harefield Hospital), Mike Rayner (Gunnersbury Park), David Todd (Treasurer / Sunbury) and Eric Prior (Match Sec, Mill Hill) who won 25-19.

It was a double celebration for Michael Nelson who was playing his first County game, as did David Williams of Hendon. Alan A'Bear of BA Concorde completed the necessary games and was presented with his full County Badge after the meal by President Tony.

Next up. Middlesex continue their run of away games with the journey to Beech Hill BC and Bedfordshire CBA.
