ANDY TIES CAMBRIDGESHIRE IN KNOTT'S.
Andy Knott (Masonian), who was teased after Mondays loss at Gloucestershire for his assertion that Middlesex CBA only win when his rink looses, exorcised his demons in the best way possible as he skipped the President's rink to a crushing 38 shots to 17 win. When Middlesex CBA returned from Cambridgeshire CBA with a 137 shots to 113 win.
The match at Fordham BC was played in hot and humid conditions, clearly more to the liking of the midges and flying ants that plagued players and spectators alike all afternoon, than to the combatants themselves!
Middlesex led throughout the game and for a long time it looked like the win would be more emphatic but as the weather took its toll everyone faded a touch and Middlesex finished with 3 winning rinks and one tied.
Top rink as already mentioned was the rink containing Tony Paulley (President / Harrow), David Vine (Wealdstone), Maurice Zollo (Strawberry Hill) and the aforementioned Andy Knott.
After the match the players sat down to an excellent meal, after which Tony Paulley had the pleasure of presenting Mel Goodman (Bishopswood) with his Colts badge and Bob Worley (Brentham) with his full County Badge.
Next up for Middlesex CBA, they return to the road, firstly on Sunday 27th when they play their annual weekend fixture against Derbyshire CBA and then on Wednesday 30th they make the long trip to face Somerset CBA at Bloomfield BC in Bath to play for the “Jack see” trophy and annual event between Middlesex and Somerset.
