MIDDLESEX ROMP TO "BOOTIFUL" VICTORY IN NORFOLK

With a successful Worthing fortnight behind them the County friendly squad gathered for their longest trip of the season all the way up to the North Norfolk coastline and the Hunstanton BC.

The long trip was well worth it however as Middlesex avenged their home defeat in 2007 to win on 5 rinks and record their highest win to date in 2008 by a 40 shot margin 139 shots to 99

Top rink was skipped by Eric Prior (Mill Hill / Match Secretary) who won his 6th top rink prize for this season. He was able assisted by the good support of Steve Bland and David Steele (both Wealdstone) and Roy Dobinson (Century) as they won 30 shots to 12.

Interesting to note that from a statistical point of view this trip to the seaside was clearly a popular one, as illustrated by the strength of the side selected and their overall support for the County. To date this season each person selected for the friendly squad has played an average of 3.8% of games. The side selected for Norfolk, excluding the very welcome guest player, ex Middlesex stalwart Ken Morrison, had racked up an impressive average of 8.3% of games each this year. Fantastic and loyal support rewarded with Tuesdays result. A full set of statistics for the season will be available after the Surrey game for anyone interested.

Next Tony Paulley leads his Tour Squad to Weymouth for what should be an excellent week along the coast. Then on September 9th the friendly squad complete their season at Brentham BC when they host neighbours Surrey CBA knowing that a win will leave them with an even season 11 wins 11 losses.
