MIDDLESEX CBA LOSE TROPHY BATTLE TO SOMERSET

The Middlesex Friendly Squad made the long trip to the Bloomfield BC in Bath on Wednesday for the annual friendly against Somerset CBA to contest the Billy Hines trophy, also known as the “Jack See”

Despite a warm and sunny day the players were glad to get through the game without any rain given the omnipresent dark clouds that were hovering just to the west of the green all afternoon.

The match itself only produced wins for 2 of the Middlesex rinks and consequently the County slid to a 116-126 defeat and lost the Trophy they had won in 2007.

Top rink for Middlesex was David Southey (Cambridge Park), Maurice Zollo (Strawberry Hill), Ron Gilbert (Gunnersbury Park) and Eric Prior (Mill Hill / Match Secretary) who won 20-13

Next, Middlesex CBA return to the comforts of home with two games in the space of three days. First on the 5th August when they take on Kent CBA at Cambridge Park BC and then on the 7th they take on Suffolk CBA at Broomfield BC
