.MIDDLESEX CBA UNDER 25’s v SURREY CBA UNDER 25’s
Played at Parsons Green BC on what the lads described as tricky, Middlesex CBA maintained their excellent form and beat their counterparts from the Surrey CBA for the first time by 83 shots to 70 (10 points to 4) to win the HC under 25’s League and preserve their 100% record, played 5 won 5, collecting 58 points out of a possible 70. A magnificent achievement.
Middlesex CBA were up 5 shots after 5 ends and 14 shots after 10ends despite the odd dropped shots on individual rinks which the other 3 rinks always seemed to compensate for and Middlesex held on to a 6 shot lead after 15 ends at that stage it looked as if history may repeat its self, last year Surrey managed to turn over a 10 shot deficit after 15 ends to win, this time the magnificent team spirit came to the fore and then picked up 9 shots over the 4 rinks on the 17th end which helped to calm both the team managers and spectators nerves. Middlesex saw the game out to win by 13 shots.
Top rink was A. Pearce. S. Vickers (Both Poplar). P. Wilsher (West Ealing) and P. Reymolds (Ladygate) who won 28 shots to 15 despite being 4 shots down after 14 ends. The other winning rink was J. Gibbs (Paddington), C Hill (Normand Park), M. Larman (Meadhurst), making his debut , and A. Tanner (Ashford), who 24 shots to 17. They were always in lead and never looked in any danger.
The 2 losing rinks were A. Richardson (Broomfield). C. Law (Pymmes Park). T. Rose (Hampton) and G. Adams (Century), 19 shots to 20 L. Barber (Broomfield). J. Head (West Ealing). B. Casey (Isleworth) and R Southgate (Harrow), 12 shots to 18
