HAMPSHIRE TAKE SPOILS IN LADYGATE SUNSHINE
Hampshire CBA recorded their first win in 3 seasons over Middlesex CBA as they won 114-125 at Ladygate BC.
Both sides won on 3 rinks but one heavy defeat for Middlesex proved decisive.
Top rink for Middlesex was Victor Smith (Ravenscroft Park), Roy Dodson (Brondesbury), Mike Rayner (Gunnersbury Park) and Ken Wilson (Cambridge Park) who won 27-17.
It was also a memorable day for Eric Payne of Cambridge Park who played his first game for the County.
With 4 wins and 6 defeats from their first 10 games Middlesex’s friendly squad will be keen to get their record back onto an even keel. With 3 home games over the next 10 days to come they will be confident of achieving this, firstly n Tuesday 6th July they host Northamptonshire CBA at Broomfield and then on Thursday 8th July Wiltshire visit Ashford.
Recent history would support 2 home victories with the host County in both fixtures being victorious in each of the previous 3 years, including the infamous flooded game as Ashford 2 years ago that was abandoned with Middx 5 in front when a violent hail storm stranded the players on the green and cut off from the clubhouse by flood water!
