ANOTHER MIXED WEEK FOR FRIENDLY SQUAD
It is little wonder that bookies are some of the richest people you could wish to meet.
Having reviewed the results of recent meetings between this weeks combatants and confidently predicted the continuation of the run of home side successes Middlesex promptly lost the second game of the week to cost me my 50p win double!!
The week started on Tuesday with Northamptonshire CBA visiting Broomfield. Victory on 4 rinks saw Middlesex home to a 109-101 victory. Top rink was Roy Cameron (Century), James Corbett (G.P.C.), David Todd (Treasurer / JDP / Sunbury) and Andy Knott (Masonian) who won 24-13.
2 other players had reason to remember the day as Wally Rose of Harrow received his Colts badge and also from Harrow Dr Michael Kanjia received his full County badge from President Graham Kellet.
2 days later and a not so swift journey round the North Circular saw the squad gather at Ashford for the fixture against Wiltshire CBA. Few of those present two years ago could forget the storm that ended the game by flooding the green in large hail stones and cutting the players off from the clubhouse. Thank fully this time the weather was dry if muggy and a full game was played.
Unfortunately for Middlesex defeat on 5 rinks meant a resounding 91-124 reverse.
Top rink for Middlesex, indeed the only winning rink, was David Southey, Chris Yelland and Skip Ken Wilson (all from Cambridge Park) and David Baker (Teddington) who won 18-14.
The side now have 5 days to get back round the North Circular to Winchmore Hill BC where on Tuesday 13th they will take on Hertfordshire CBA
