MIDDLESEX STUN SURREY IN THEIR BACK YARD
Fresh from their victory over Oxfordshire on Saturday Team Manager Brian Hearn and his selected squad travelled to Egham Bowls Club to face Surrey CBA in the Balcomb trophy (National County 2 x 4’s).
Sadly for all involved Middlesex managed to tow the bad weather from Saturday down the M40 with them but like Saturday they were undeterred and produced a magnificent controlled performance to stun their hosts and progress to the Regional finals 45-25.
I am sure the cards, which are reproduced below, explain more eloquently than me the pattern of the game although it is worth mentioning that Norman Worley’s rampant rink were running an end ahead of Perry Cooks, who in monitoring what was going on next to them were able to play a more containing game until the later stages of the game when they too got away.
All in all a superb effort by the 8 involved who now progress to the regional finals where they will join Berkshire, Kent and the Isle of Wight at Winchmore Hill on June 26th.
Finally thanks should go to travelling reserve Ron LeLeux, Senior Deputy David Todd, Past President Richard Clarke, Ashley Tanner and our 3 lady supporters who travelled along to cheer on the side. |
