Subject: Statement: Summary of responses to local authority greens survey

Bowls England received many requests for assistance from local authority clubs who are in negotiation with their council regarding fees and charges in 2011.

To assist clubs in their negotiations, Bowls England conducted a survey of all local authority bowls clubs in November 2010. A total of 107 responses were received from clubs, representing 24 different counties. Many of the responses were provided confidentially.

Through the responses received it is clear there are many variables (for example green maintenance, location, club house, security etc) that must be taken into consideration when considering arrangements with local authorities and that there is no ‘single solution’.

The attached report provides a summary of the key findings that clubs may wish to refer to during any future negotiations with their local authority.
