CAN MIDDLESEX REAP THE REWARDS

2 weeks ago the Senior Middlesex squads enjoyed one of their most successful weekends for a while with Middleton Cup victory over Oxfordshire CBA and Balcomb trophy success over Surrey CBA.

This weekend both squads enter the fray again with big opportunities to build on those earlier successes.

Firstly on Saturday the Middleton Cup squad entertain current bottom side Sussex CBA. They have lost both their opening games, to Oxfordshire and Hampshire CBA’s and will be looking to improve to avoid bottom spot in the group.

Middlesex however should go into the game with confidence having already beaten Sussex at home in the Home Counties this season and in the sides last Middleton Cup encounter Middlesex won 22-0. A repeat would be very welcome.

Middlesex make one change to their side for Saturday with Kevin Ward (Broomfield) coming in for Ashley Tanner)

On Sunday, with the promise of better weather, the Middlesex Double 4 squad gather at Winchmore Hill BC for the regional finals of the Balcomb Trophy competition.

Firstly they take on the Isle of Wight CBA with an opportunity to gain revenge for a heavy defeat a few seasons ago. If Middlesex are successful they will then play the winners of the other semi, Kent v Berkshire, in the afternoon with a place in the last 4 at Worthing on offer for the winners of that tie.

So opportunity knocks for the County, can Middlesex open the door and step through?

Support for both games will be welcomed with Saturdays game at Finchley starting at 1400 and Sundays opening game starting at 1000.
