INVITATION FROM BOWLS ENGLAND

Would you like to find out more about Bowls England and what it does for you? Then come along to the Bowls England Annual Conference at the Town Hall, Royal Leamington Spa, on Wednesday 6th April from 11am.

The event, which is free to attend, gives all Members the opportunity to find out more information on a number of important topics ahead of the new season.

This year there will be a focus on increasing membership and supporting clubs, with the topics on ‘recruitment and retention’ and ‘bowls in schools’ presented by speakers with practical experience of developing the sport.

Information on the support available to volunteers in clubs and counties will be given by a representative from Running Sports, whilst an equalities expert will give details on the impact of the Equality Act on sport.

Attendees will also get the opportunity to put their questions to the Bowls England Board during a ‘question time’ session that will be held during the afternoon. The latest Bowls England merchandise will also be unveiled at the conference.

Tony Allcock MBE, Bowls England Chief Executive, said: “The Annual Conference provides an excellent opportunity for all Members to learn more about the work of Bowls England, and also to provide us with feedback. We are especially keen to see people at the conference from our clubs and counties who are not able to attend Bowls England General Meetings. So why not get together a car from your club, neighbouring clubs or county to come and find out what is happening in more detail?”

The conference will run from 11am-4pm. To help more people to attend, Bowls England is offering travel assistance for two cars from each Unified County Association (one car per Association in non-unified counties), so individuals are encouraged to contact their County Secretary for information on seat availability within that car.

There is no car parking at the venue, but there are a number of Public Car Parks in the town centre. Please note that gas main replacement work is expected to be taking place on this date near to the Town Hall. Diversions will be in operation and, although all car parks in the town centre will be open, please allow additional time to reach the venue.

Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available at the venue on arrival. There are a number of cafes and restaurants nearby for lunch, or attendees may choose to bring a packed lunch with them.
