SATURDAY – OH WHAT A DAY!

It promises to be a great day this Saturday.

England’s Cricketers attempt to use the Lords slope to put Sri Lanka out of their 3 match series. 11 overpaid prima donnas attempt, at Wembley, to get past the Swiss neutral zone in a Euro qualifier and of course who can forget that Simon Cowell and his minions will be attempting to find the next head line act for Butlins in the Britain’s Got Limited talent final!!

Most important of all at Finchley Bowls Club the cream of Middlesex CBA’s bowling talent will be gathering to start their Middleton Cup campaign for 2011.

Providing the opposition will be the formidable force of the pre dominantly blue blazered Kent CBA.

With both Counties celebrating their Centenaries both sides will be keen to progress a long way in this years competition to mark the occasion and a positive start will set the campaign up perfectly.

Middlesex enter this game showing a number of changes, both in terms of personnel and position, from their last group game in 2010.

Returning into the side are John Sweeney (Hendon), Paul Reynolds (Ladygate), Paul Cater (West Ealing), Chris Cleaver (City of London), Jamie Gibbs (Paddington), Nick Edwards and Darren Gosnell (Bounds Green). Making his debut is John Sinclair (Bush Hill Park)

President Brian Elbourn has promised to make a rousing pre match team talk of churchillian proportions, but everyone can do their bit on the day, in a game that starts at 1400. Forget all the other distractions, the weather promises to be fine so come along in your masses, wear something orange, and cheer the County of Middlesex onto a opening day victory.

See you Saturday.
