THEY CAME, THEY SAW, THEY CONQUERED!
Thursday 2nd June saw the unified Bowls Isle of Wight, under the leadership of their Lady President Anne Jennings, visit West Ealing BC for the annual friendly against Middlesex CBA.
With Middlesex’s friendly squad having won overseas last year the Islanders were keen for revenge and a competitive game ensued.
The traveller’s determination to get their own back shone through as they won on 4 rinks to take the spoils 115-102.
Top rink for Middlesex was the President Brian Elbourn’s with him being ably assisted by Alan A’Bear (B.A.Concorde), Ray Ells (Bush Hill Park) and Ron Petch (Acton Park / County Patron) as they stormed through to the finish to win 23-12.
After the match Andrew Taylor of Cambridge Park received his County Badge.
So after 5 wins on the bounce the County Friendly Squad have suffered back to back defeats. The first opportunity they get to reverse this sequence comes on Wednesday 8th June at Ladygate Bowls Club when the Royal County of Berkshire are the visitors.
Middlesex will this time be the side looking for revenge having suffered a heavy defeat at Maidenhead last year.
